Class pole-to-victory & first Endurance Cup podium seals stellar Nürburgring weekend

A standout weekend for 2 Seas Motorsport at the Nürburgring, as a class pole position was converted into a class victory for Reece Barr, Charles Dawson and Kiern Jewiss at the fourth Endurance Cup event of the 2026 GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS season. Meanwhile, the sister Mercedes-AMG Team Verstappen Racing entry of Jules Gounon, Dani Juncadella and Chris Lulham fought to an overall podium result, securing their first Endurance Cup podium of the season.

Qualifying set the tone for the weekend with strong performances on both sides of the garage. Reece, Charles and Kiern in the #222 Bronze Cup entry combined to claim an impressive class pole position, and a place inside the overall top 20 on the stacked entry list, while the #3 trio lined up P5 overall.

Reece and Dani were on driving duties from the race start, and both battled hard through a busy opening lap, avoiding incidents unfolding around them. A full course caution arrived just before the first hour, and with the field bunched up, the #3 stopped for Dani to hand over to Chris. With a play on strategy, Reece remained on track to gain ground, before making a stop just before the hour mark.

Handing over to Charles, the #222 was immediately in the thick of the action as the race got back to racing speed. As the running order reshuffled in the aftermath of the stops, Charles remained firmly in the mix for the podium positions, and made a decisive move for position at the restart. The #3 continued to fight at the front, gaining a further position during the well-executed final scheduled pitstop as Chris made way for Jules. Meanwhile, Charles brought his impressive stint to a close holding down the final spot on the class podium, and a top-10 position overall.

With Kiern now at the wheel, he wasted no time in reclaiming the class lead as the pit sequence played out across the field, and held firm despite a further full course caution and continued pressure in the closing hour. Post-race penalties at the front of the field promoted Dani, Chris and Jules to an overall podium finish, achieving the trio’s first Endurance Cup podium result of the 2026 season. The #222 crossed the line to take a well earned class victory – repeating the result for the team, a year on from the maiden GT World Challenge Europe race win at the Nürburgring – and capping off an impressive weekend for Charles, Reece and Kiern.

The Bronze Cup victory moves Reece, Charles and Kiern to P5 in the championship standings, with the championship entering its final stages and one final Endurance Cup round to go. Attention now immediately moves back to the British GT campaign, as the team focuses on the penultimate round this weekend at Donington Park.
