Double pole and double podium sign off a strong end to GTWC weekend in Misano

The GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS returned to Italy, as the Sprint Cup rolled into Misano for the latest rounds of the championship. It was a mixed weekend of fortunes across the two races for 2 Seas Motorsport, ending with a double pole position and podium finish. The #222 Mercedes-AMG GT3 of Charles Dawson and Kiern Jewiss made a first European Sprint effort of the season as they delivered a top-5 finish in race 1, while their Mercedes-AMG Team Verstappen Racing teammates Jules Gounon and Dani Juncadella saw their efforts cut short on the opening lap. Race 2 brought strong results on both sides of the garage, with double pole positions converted to a double podium result.

The opening qualifying session laid the foundations for what would be another impressive weekend for Kiern and Charles, as the pair set the #222 Mercedes-AMG GT3 third on the grid for Race 1. From there, the duo brought the car home in a solid P5, banking valuable points and giving the team plenty to build on ahead of the second encounter of the weekend. On the other side of the coin, the chaotic start at the front of the field resulted in heavy contact for the 2 Seas Motorsport-run #3 Mercedes-AMG Team Verstappen Racing entry, as bad luck brought their efforts to an early conclusion.

Following the incident, a late night of repairs followed, but these efforts were quickly rewarded as race day 2 started with a bumper qualifying effort for both sides of the garage. Jules secured overall pole position for the #3, and a first Bronze pole position for #222 with Charles at the wheel. Starting from the front, both cars showed strong pace, and battles continued throughout the second hour of the weekend, bringing home a double podium result to end the weekend on a high.

The reigning British GT champions Charles and Kiern brought another well managed and hard-fought effort to the weekend, battling to the final lap to sign off their maiden Sprint effort of the season with an impressive P3 result. Jules and Dani crossed the line P2 to secure silverware for both sides of the garage, salvaging a strong points haul after a difficult Saturday.

Overall, a positive weekend for a huge effort from the entire 2 Seas Motorsport crew across the weekend, converting quick cars into results across both Pro and Bronze classes. The GT World Challenge Europe resumes with the next round of the Sprint Cup at Magny-Cours, France, 31 July-2 August.
