2 Seas Motorsport heads in to its first season-finale challenging for overall championship honours as the SRO has confirmed the location for the fifth and final round of the inaugural E-Sport GT Series Championship 2020. The series will head to Kyalami after the South African former-Formula 1 track won the right to host the title-deciding race on Assetto Corsa Competizione.

Both drivers of the 2 Seas Motorsport McLaren 720S GT3s will compete at the track for the first time in the one-hour race, and the event also marks the first time that the latest McLaren GT3 model has campaigned in South Africa. Despite this lack of experience, both Isa Al-Khalifa and championship contender Ben Barnicoat are confident going in to the final race of the simulator-based series.

Isa Al-Khalifa, 2 Seas Motorsport team co-owner and #383 McLaren 720S GT3 driver.

“It has been a great season so far racing on some of Europe’s most iconic circuits, but it will be a real test and extremely exciting to sample Kyalami. It is a great circuit and has seen some fantastic racing over the years, and it will be great to see the E-Sport GT Series grid battling it out there. I am really looking forward to seeing what Ben and I can do for the final time this season, and we will be pushing hard to keep improving and end the debut championship for 2 Seas Motorsport on a high. The 720S GT3 has proved itself to be a true contender, we have the benefit of no success ballast for this round, and the team is in a great position going in to the race weekend.”

Ben Barnicoat, #99 McLaren 720S GT3 driver.

“The fans have chosen a great circuit in Kyalami for the final round of the championship, and I am really looking forward to racing there. It is a circuit steeped in history, and it was great to see the 9-hour endurance race added to the Intercontinental GT Challenge last season. It brings new challenges, and it is the first time I have been there and the 720S GT3 has raced there, but the car has proved itself as a real contender in this championship and in the real world already this season. We go in to the race with an outside chance of taking the championship, and while there is still a chance, I will be racing hard. If last year’s 9-hour race was anything to go by, we might be in for some extreme weather as well, so anything could happen!”

The SRO E-Sport GT Series Championship 2020 season finale takes place at Kyalami, South Africa on Saturday 21 June with lights going green for the Pro race at 13.00 BST (14.00 CET). The race will be streamed live on the GT World YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/gt1world) and on the GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS website (www.gt-world-challenge-europe.com).
