2 Seas Motorsport open the GT World Challenge account with double points finish
The 2026 GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS got underway at Circuit Paul Ricard over the weekend, with 2 Seas Motorsport hitting the ground running. Charles Dawson, Kiern Jewiss and Reece Barr secured a fourth-place finish in the Bronze Cup, while the Mercedes-AMG Team Verstappen Racing entry of Chris Lulham, Daniel Juncadella and Jules Gounon secured an overall top-10 finish.
With nearly 60 cars on the grid, qualifying was as important as ever. The #3 entry ended the combined sessions inside the overall top-10, while Reece, Charles and Kiern also delivered a strong opening qualifying effort, well inside the top-10 in class, setting themselves up well for the six-hour event running into Saturday evening.
Heavy contact before Turn 1 as the season went green brought out an early Safety Car. Both Mercedes-AMG GT3s cleared the incident, and the #3 gained several positions before the caution. Pace looked strong on the restart; Daniel pressed for the podium positions while Charles held his grid spot and battled hard as the first hour passed.
As the hours unfolded, the #222 trio steadily chipped away at the lead group in the Bronze Cup. A driver switch to Jules also saw the #3 holding the final podium position as the race reached its midpoint. With the sun setting over the circuit, an unscheduled stop during Chris' first stint briefly delayed the strong progress of the Pro-entry car, but both cars remained in contention near the front of their respective classes. Reece moved the #222 as high as third as strategies played out.
With Daniel and Kiern in the cars for the final hour, positions looked fairly settled before a late Full Course Yellow brought the field back together one last time. Battles continued to the final lap, but both drivers defended hard to bring home points in their respective classes. The #333 of Charles, Reece and Kiern finished fourth in the Bronze Cup and 27th overall, while Daniel, Chris and Jules completed a hard-fought six hours to take ninth in the Pro Cup and 10th overall.
The season now heads to the UK for Round 2 and the opening Sprint event of the year at Brands Hatch. The two one-hour races take place on 2–3 May, with Daniel and Chris back in action with the #3 Mercedes-AMG GT3.
