2 Seas Motorsport to defend Gulf 12 Hours crown
After securing a dominant victory at the relocated Gulf 12 Hours in Bahrain earlier this year, 2 Seas Motorsport team will return to action in the Middle East to defend the honour early in the New Year. The 2022 running of the event returns to its regular location at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi for the 10th edition, and 2 Seas Motorsport will field a two-car entry.
The Bahraini-British team has enjoyed a successful 2021 season, kickstarted by the win at the Bahrain International Circuit back in January. Since that date, and a switch of manufacturer to now run as part of the Mercedes-AMG Customer Racing programme, 2 Seas Motorsport has rolled out for the Intelligent Money British GT Championship ‘Silverstone 500’ headline event, along with the final two dates on the International GT Open calendar in Monza and Barcelona. The team’s impressive form saw them take a victory at each of these events against world-class opposition.
The 2022 Gulf 12 Hours will mark the first race for the team in the region since the race win a year earlier, and a debut outing in Abu Dhabi. Despite the team’s lack of experience at the iconic Formula 1 circuit, team co-owner Sh. Isa Al Khalifa is looking forward to the new challenge and pushing forward into the new season.
“It has been very much a learning year for us in 2021, but we have enjoyed an extremely successful season, taking victories at each of the events we have entered. It is great to now be confirming our entry back into the Gulf 12 Hours. It was a huge honour for me to be part of the team which took victory in my home country last time out, but it is great to see the event back at its regular venue and we are very much looking forward to taking on a new challenge at Yas Marina. It is a circuit I have fond memories of, having raced there in the past with the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Middle East, and we are looking forward to seeing the new track layout."
The 2 Seas Motorsport driver line-ups for the two entries into the 10th edition of the Gulf 12 Hours will be confirmed in the coming weeks.
