• Al Faisal al Zubair pairs up with McLaren Professional Driver Martin Kodrić

• Third McLaren 720S GT3 confirmed for one-off entry into highly-competitive Silver Cup class

• Latest addition to the British GT grid joins season regulars Angus Fender and Dean Macdonald, Jack Mitchell and Jordan Witt

After an impressive list of results during the debut season including victory last time out, 2 Seas Motorsport has confirmed a third GT3 entry for the final round of the Intelligent Money British GT Championship at Silverstone next month. Al Faisal al Zubair joins McLaren Professional Driver Martin Kodrić at the wheel of a third McLaren 720S GT3 for the team, adding a further exciting one-off Silver line-up to the championship finale.

The Al Manar Financial Investments-sponsored number 11 720S GT3 joins 2 Seas Motorsport for the season-ending encounter at Silverstone with Oman’s Al Faisal al Zubair making his championship and UK racing debut. The double Porsche GT3 Middle East champion makes his first race appearance since contesting the Hankook 24Hr Dubai event at the start of the year, and he is joined by McLaren star Martin Kodrić.

While bringing a wealth of knowledge of the McLaren GT3 machine, this will also be Martin’s debut outing in the Intelligent Money British GT Championship. Despite the lack of series experience however, Martin returns to the Silverstone circuit after scoring a top-4 finish during the 2019 International GT Open event at the wheel of the 720S GT3 on his way to finishing joint second in the overall championship standings.

The pair joins 2 Seas Motorsport for the final round of the 2020 season alongside Angus Fender and Dean Macdonald in the #9 and Jordan Witt and Jack Mitchell in the #10. The season regulars have, so far, claimed silverware at each of the six race weekends including overall race victory during the last race weekend at Snetterton. Going into the final event, race-winners Jack and Jordan remain with an outside chance of GT3 Silver Cup Drivers championship honours currently in third place, while 2 Seas Motorsport also holds P3 in the outright GT3 team’s championship.

Al Faisal al Zubair, #11 McLaren 720S GT3 driver.

“I am extremely excited to be back racing after such a long break, having not competed since the Dubai 24-hour race in January. It will be a very different experience for me, racing in a new series with the McLaren which I have never raced before, but I am really excited to be back in a GT3 car, racing with 2 Seas Motorsport alongside Martin at the iconic Silverstone circuit.

The British GT Championship is recognised globally as one of the strongest and most competitive domestic GT championships, and the racing so far this season and the grid size is testament to that. The 2 Seas Motorsport team has already shown themselves to be true contenders at each event in their debut season, and I am excited to be racing with Martin who is a proven race-winner at the wheel of the McLaren. It is going to be a fun weekend!”

Isa Al-Khalifa, 2 Seas Motorsport team co-owner.

“I am really pleased to welcome Al Faisal to the team alongside Martin for the final event of the 2020 Intelligent Money British GT Championship season, and I am confident they will make for a really exciting pairing. The Silver Cup has provided some fantastic racing over the course of the season and adding a third GT3 car to our line-up is hugely exciting.

“It will be a steep learning curve for Al Faisal and Martin making their series’ debut at Silverstone, but both have achieved strong results at the highest level and the team is looking to end the season on a high and build on the overall race win from last time out at Snetterton.”

The #SilverstoneShowdown season finale of the Intelligent Money British GT Championship takes place 7-8 November.
